Border Security

Under the leadershipo of both Republicans and Democrats, Congress has failed to secure our border. Even though Americans made it clear the border was one of the two most important issues in the last election, Congress was incapable of reaching a solution and incumbents failed to keep their promise to secure the border.

I have proven that I can reach consensus and achieve bipartisan solutions on border security. I sponsored and passed a state law making it a crime to smuggle humans through Arizona. I sponsored the bill preventing illegal immigrants from getting Arizona driver’s licenses. We put more money into a state task force combating illegal immigration. I helped Arizona create a system to assist employers to know their employees are legal workers and that holds bad actors accountable.

I will not do what my opponent has done and vote for amnesty or allow illegal immigrants to vote in union elections. My opponent flip-flopped on the E-Verify program and the permanent check-point. My opponent also voted to stop building the fence and is pushing for a corridor where Border Patrol will be prohibited from pursuing and apprehending illegal immigrants, including terrorists.

As President and Majority Leader, I helped Arizona lead the nation in combating illegal immigration. I was the most effective legislator in getting solutions that secure our border signed into law. I can and will do the same in Congress. I will take this effectiveness to Washington to end the stalemate and reach a solution that secures the border at the border and prohibits “amnesty”. I will fight to hold employers accountable, while providing a legal means to meet labor demands with a temporary guest worker program. We must fund and finish the building of the fence and install a technology system that actually works. I will fight for more federal prosecutors and investigators to ensure criminals are actually prosecuted and not just released.

I have been effective in Arizona in passing laws to combat illegal immigration and providing funding for law enforcement at the border. I have already proven I will take action to secure the border and make Arizona a safer place for all of us. I will do the same in Congress.
